The lash of blazing lightning illuminates a picture, clear
Its punishing bolts chew up the soil
The deafening sound of thunder force-feeds the primal fear
A viciously lurking serpent ready to uncoil
Every step forward was wrung from a bitter sacrifice
Subliminal pitfalls, out in the unknown, only seeing eyes know
Still the lessons in destruction and recovery dwell
Deep in the torture of the places below
Unshackled will to free the mind
Restored and rid of pain
Unclear if real or deceiving lie
Willing to face the deep again
Again!
Mangled thoughts lead onto roads unwalked
Where doubt and misleading suspicions stalk
Their tight grasp cracks valor's mask
Shaken off barely with a frightened gasp
Behold, the dreamer awakens!
All faculties and senses retaken
Behold, the dreamer awakens!
The sheer resolve to overcome unshaken
Behold, the dreamer awakens!
A triumph over oppression in the making
Every step forward was wrung from a bitter sacrifice
Subliminal pitfalls, out in the unknown, only seeing eyes know
Still the lessons in destruction and recovery dwell
Deep in the torture of the places below
Unshackled will to free the mind
Restored and rid of pain
Unclear if real or deceiving lie
Willing to face the deep again
Again!

Desolator have the distinction of creating music that should appeal to any fan of the various death metal sub genres. You’re going to find both brutal (Adversarial Doctrine) and melodic (Methods of Self-deception) tracks; the album has an old school feel while not really falling into OSDM worship. The technical aspect is by no means central, but tech death fans should appreciate the riff craft on display (Creatures of Habit). I even got a Sepultura vibe from the drums on the last track.
